After deciding to go with the Ocean diver theme I decided to do a mind map on what creatures I could feature on my cards. I wanted to celebrate the diversity of species in the sea so I searched for more weird and wonderful looking species to use to add to the collectable nature.
I also sketched out some ideas for the card layouts. Having looked at the previous cards it gave me a good idea about type size and general layout. I was actually surprised how much detail they fit onto the cards - I would have thought with the age range of 4-9 year olds the text would have needed to be bigger.
For the information I planned on having some sort of stats again to add to the collectible value of the cards. I'm thinking about including the depth that they live and the rarity of the species, but for now I'm not sure about the other stats. Also I wanted to include the locations where the species could be found. I think my favourite layout is the middle one. The placement of each of the boxes works well together, leaving space for them to breath as well as providing plenty of room for fun facts.
